Yemen: Arbitrary Detention, Enforced Disappearance and the Role of Accountability

Yemen: Arbitrary Detention, Enforced Disappearance and the Role of Accountability

13 September 2024

On 13 September, together with member states, NGOs and two Yemeni civil society coalitions, the Global Centre co-hosted the side event entitled “Yemen: Arbitrary Detention, Enforced Disappearance and the Role of Accountability” in parallel to the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC). This side event provided an opportunity for member states and civil society to exchange views on the continued need for accountability, transitional justice and reparations and explore possible avenues through the HRC to ensure that Yemen is able to move toward sustainable peace. The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect’s Geneva Representative, Elisabeth Pramendorfer, moderated the discussion.
