Savita Pawnday speaks on a panel regarding Gender, Accountability and Atrocity Prevention

On 6 June Global Centre Executive Director, Savita Pawnday, delivered remarks on a panel entitled, “30 Years After the Genocide in Rwanda: Gender, Accountability and Atrocity Prevention,” hosted by the Norwegian Holocaust Centre and the Peace Research Institute Oslo in Oslo, Norway. Savita’s remarks focused on the role of civil society in gendering atrocity prevention, the evolution of gendered aspects of the responsibility to protect and the need for more nuance in early warning where gendered violence is key to patterns of violence and atrocity crimes. The panel followed a key note address by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten.
