Resolution 79/185 (Syria) A/RES/79/185

17 December 2024

On 17 December 2024 the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 79/185 on the situation in Syria. Resolution 79/185 deplores the fact that March 2024 marked 13 years since the peaceful uprising and brutal repression that led to the conflict in Syria, which has had and continues to have a devastating impact on civilians, including through grave violations and abuses of international human rights law and violations of international humanitarian law. The resolution strongly demands that the Syrian regime meet its responsibility to protect the Syrian population and to respect, protect and fulfill the human rights of all persons within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction.
