Resolution 57/35 (Central African Republic) A/HRC/RES/57/35

11 October 2024

On 10 October the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 57/35, which renews the mandate of the Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in the Central African Republic for a period of one year, with a particular focus on violations of human rights and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) alleged to have been committed by all parties to the conflict. The resolution expresses deep concern regarding the ongoing fragility of the security situation and condemns human rights violations and abuses and violations of IHL that continue to be perpetrated by the parties to the conflict, despite the Government’s efforts. The resolution also recalls that “the Central African Republic bears the primary responsibility to protect its populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.” The resolution was adopted without a vote.
