Resolution 52/30 (Syria) A/HRC/RES/52/30

4 April 2023

On 4 April the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 52/30, which renewed the mandate of the Commission of Inquiry for one year and welcomed the findings of the Secretary-General in his report on how to bolster efforts to clarify the fate and whereabouts of missing people in Syria and expressed its strong support for the timely implementation of a humanitarian mechanism in this regard. The resolution also demanded that “the Syrian authorities meet their responsibility to protect the Syrian population and to respect and protect the human rights of all persons within its jurisdiction, including persons in detention and their families.” The resolution was adopted by a vote of 26 in favor, 5 against and 16 abstentions.
