Resolution 49/2 (South Sudan) A/HRC/RES/49/2

On 31 March the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 49/2 on South Sudan. The resolution renewed the mandate of the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan, recalling that “the Government of South Sudan has the primary responsibility to protect its population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.” The resolution was adopted by a vote of 19 in favor, 11 against and 17 abstentions.
