29 September 2017

On 29 September 2017 the UN Human Rights Council passed Resolution 36/30 on technical assistance to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The resolution calls on the DRC government to exercise maximum restraint with regard to responding to election-related protests and do more to ensure an end to violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws. Additionally the resolution reminds DRC’s government of its responsibility to protect populations and welcomes the establishment of joint investigations into the situations in the Kasaï provinces and progress made in delivering accountability for violations of human rights.
