Resolution
On 24 March 2017 the UN Human Rights Council passed Resolution 34/25 on the human rights situation in South Sudan. Resolution 34/25 is the first passed by the UN Human Rights Council on South Sudan to include R2P language. The resolution recalls that the government of South Sudan has the primary responsibility to protect all populations in the country from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.
