On 25 September 2014 the UN Human Rights Council adopted Resolution 27/16 on the situation in Syria. Resolution 27/16 condemns the grave deterioration of the human rights situation and the indiscriminate killing and deliberate targeting of civilians in Syria. The resolution also strongly condemns all violations and abuses of international human rights law and all violations of international humanitarian law committed against the civilian population, and demands that the Syrian authorities “meet their responsibilities to protect the Syrian population.”
