On 14 November 2017 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2317 on the situation in Somalia. Resolution 2385 renews the partial arms embargo for Somalia until 15 November 2018 recalling “the Federal Government of Somalia has the primary responsibility to protect its population, and recognizing the FGS’ responsibility, working with the Federal Member States to build the capacity of its own national security forces, as a matter of priority.”
