Resolution 2296 (Sudan – Darfur) S/RES/2296

29 June 2016

On 29 June 2016 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2296 on Sudan. Resolution 2296 renews the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) until 30 June 2017. The resolution also recalls that “the Government of Sudan bears the primary responsibility to protect civilians within its territory and subject to its jurisdiction, including protection from crimes against humanity and war crimes…”
