The Commission of Inquiry on human rights in Eritrea released its first report on 8 June 2015, finding that “systematic, widespread and gross human rights violations have been and are being committed in Eritrea under the authority of the Government.,” some of which constitute crimes against humanity. The report also details how “the Government has created and sustained repressive systems to control, silence and isolate individuals in the country, depriving them of their fundamental freedoms.”
